A payments agent for contractor work

Pay contractors when the work is done. Not before.

Contractors submit their work through a private link. iPay's agent checks it against what you agreed, pays what holds up, holds anything odd for you, and keeps spare money earning interest. Every payment passes a risk check first.

How a release works

Four steps between a budget and a paid contractor.

  1. 01

    Fund the workspace

Your workspace gets its own payments account. You add the project budget to it. Nobody else's money is ever mixed with yours.

    account yours alone
  2. 02

Park what you don't need yet

The part of the budget that isn't due soon moves into savings and earns interest while the work happens. When a payment needs it, iPay moves back exactly the amount required.

savings earning moves back when needed
  3. 03

    The contractor delivers

Each milestone has a private link. The contractor opens it, describes what they delivered and adds a link to the work. No account, no login.

    status in progress → delivered
  4. 04

    The agent decides, then pays

The agent compares the delivery with the agreed scope and the contractor's history, then pays, holds it for you, or asks for changes, with a reason you can read. It can only pay up to the limit you set, and every payment passes a risk check first.

The policy

Three risk results. Each one does exactly one thing.

RiskWhat happensWhat you do
Low The contractor is paid right away, using savings if needed. iPay confirms the payment arrived and keeps the receipt. Nothing.
Medium The milestone is held with status needs review. No money moves. Look at the reasons and decide.
High The payment is blocked and the reason is saved to your history. Find another way to pay, or don't.

Every payment record keeps

  • the milestone, amount and recipient
  • your approval notes
  • the risk result and the reasons for it
  • the payment receipt
  • the interest earned up to that point

What it's built on

Off-the-shelf rails, wired together carefully.

Arc

The payment network. Payments settle in seconds, in digital dollars.

Circle

Holds each workspace's money in its own account, created when you sign up.

Circle Earn

Earns interest on the budget you are not using yet.

CompliR

Checks every contractor before they are paid, and signs the result so it can't be altered.

Put the next milestone
through it.
